Trump Denounces Mass Shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio
U.S. President Donald Trump denounced the two mass shootings in Ohio and Texas while speaking to reporters in Morristown, New Jersey, on his way back to Washington, Sunday, August 4.
He said, “hate has no place in our country,” and that “we’re going to take care” of the problem. He also noted that he would speak with the U.S. Attorney General, FBI director and members of Congress and will be making an additional statement Monday, August 5.
Trump pointed to a mental illness problem in the U.S., calling the shooters “really very seriously mentally ill.”
The shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, over the weekend left at least 29 people dead.
