Rocks, Tear Gas Exchanged as Honduran Protesters Face Off With Riot Police

Riot police in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, deployed tear gas, Tuesday, August 6, as residents protesting President Juan Orlando Hernandez tossed rocks at them. The protests come as suspicions about Hernandez’s alleged involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering scheme are rising. In addition, protesters lamented a lack of economic opportunities and widespread crime in Honduras, one of the poorest countries in the Americas.
