Officials Rescue Elephant Trapped in Pit in India

Forest guards rescued a young elephant trapped inside a pit in eastern Ganjam, Sunday, February 2.

After receiving the information of the trapped elephant, the forest guards used an excavator to free it.

India’s population of Asiatic elephants is dwindling due to frequent poaching for ivory. (REUTERS)
