Kamala’s DEI VP Pick: Tim Walz – The Older Sexagenarian White Guy Gets the Nod
In a move that screams “diversity” louder than a Minnesota winter, Vice President Kamala Harris has reportedly selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. Yes, you read that right. The champion of the Democrats’ progressive wing is none other than a 60-year-old white guy. Because, apparently, when it comes to DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), the “I” stands for irony.
Progressive credentials: white hair, blue eyes, and a side of social justice.
Tim Walz, the Governor of Minnesota since 2019, is a White Minnesotan – but don’t let that fool ya because he’s got the progressive radical creds that Harris needs – he’s championed healthcare reform, pushed for green energy (signed a bill for Minnesota energy providers to provide their customers with 100% carbon-free energy by 2040), and supported LGBTQ+ rights.
His LGBTQ+ positions seems to be what the media is all giddy about – even thought he’s a “straight” guy himself and identifies as a “he/him.”
So, while his demographics might not scream “diversity,” his policies yell “progressive” like a blizzard raging on a cold Minnesota winter night.
Rallying for the future in Philly.
Harris and her newly-minted running mate are expected to kick off their campaign with a rally in Philadelphia tonight. One can only imagine the excitement in the air as Harris introduces Walz as the face of modern progressive America.
Will the crowd be thrilled by his years of experience and dedication to progressive causes? Or will they be confused by the fact that the party’s new poster boy for diversity looks like he stepped out of a Norman Rockwell painting?
Will the Democrats defend whiteness?
Diversity comes in many forms (when the Democrats need it to.) I’m wondering if they’re going to be spending some of the next week actually having to DEFEND the fact that Harris chose an old white guy. That would be pretty funny.
