Free, Fair Elections Needed in Venezuela, US Lawmakers Say

Political and economic instability have pushed the Venezuelan people to the edge, requiring a surge of humanitarian aid, Trump administration officials told the U.S. Congress Wednesday. In his first Capitol Hill appearance as U.S. Special Representative to Venezuela, Elliott Abrams said all options for addressing the crisis are on the table, though some Democratic lawmakers warned against U.S. military intervention.
