Dozens Released After U.S. Immigration Officials Detain Hundreds of Undocumented Migrants

Dozens of immigrant workers have been released a day after being detained in the largest immigration raid in a decade in the U.S., according to AP.
U.S. officials said about 680 undocumented migrants were detained in raids, Wednesday, August 7, at food processing plants in the southeastern United States, part of President Donald Trump’s announced crackdown on illegal immigration.
Most of those detained by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were Hispanic migrants, officials said.
“They have to follow our laws, they have to abide by our rules, they have to come here legally or they shouldn’t come here at all,” Mike Hurst, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi, said at a news conference. (AFP)
